Lori Schell and Taryn Burris are the visionaries behind what we now call “Kids Cottage Rehoboth”. The two women were elementary school teachers with the desire to create a quality preschool with various educational opportunities and outreach programs in Sussex County. Kids Cottage Rehoboth is the result of their combined aspirations and in 2005, their first preschool came to fruition.
In 2009, real estate developers presented them with a unique opportunity for synergy with a well-known preschool where Lori grew up. After carefully considering the acquisition in Dover, Taryn and Lori decided to take their vision north. The Little School in Dover, DE was being sold as their beloved, Mary Jane Richter, was planning to retire. Lisa Ratliff and Shannon Mercer, both friends of Lori and Taryn, assumed ownership of the Little School. We soon had a match made in heaven.
At Kids Cottage and the Little School at Kids Cottage (LSKC), we value parent engagement, our reputation for excellence, and our teachers’ dedication to young learners.
